Baby Khris:   For those who don't know you give us a little background?

Rayne Mann:  First off, I want to say thanks for interiew. I started in this industry with Charles Stone from Cesar Video. Charles gave me my first shot as a director and the freedom to do what I wanted to do.  I directed the Sexy Dancer series when it was pretty much the best selling black title on the East Coast. That's where alot of people knew me from. Charles gave a lot of people their start. Brian Pumper, Lexinton Steele, John E. Depth.... But even after working with Cesar Video for 2 years, I had ideas that I wanted to develop and I knew I needed something of my own to do that.

Baby Khris:   Being a director on the East Coast is it harder to be taken serious?

Rayne Mann:  It is difficult because of pressure to compete with the industry out west. The good thing is that I have gotten good exposure through the titles that I developed and I have a very loyal fan base. And I am always seeking out new pussy to make it hot. Or I give people that I know the exposure they need. I pride myself on finding the new hotness that as soon as I do something with them, everybody wants them.

Baby Khris:   One thing I love about you is your lineups. Name the pornstars you've shot?

Baby Khris:   Who do you plan to shoot in 2007? (Please say Pinky!!)

Rayne Mann:  It's funny you mentioned Pinky because I would like to work with her. The thing for me is "what can I do different with someone who has been seen quite a bit, instead of just getting them to do a scene."   Some people I haven't worked with because I am not sure I can do anything different with them  But you take someone like Candace Von, who I know had done plenty of movies before I worked with her. I brought out a little something extra in her that even SHE said that hadn't been done before. As a director that is my goal. It's was what I thought I could do with Janet Jacme. I would like to work with Aliana Luv sometime soon.

Baby Khris:   X Level basically revived AVN Hall of Famer Janet Jacme's career. How did the 2 of you link up?

Rayne Mann:  I thought Janet was underappreciated in the game. As much as she had done, I knew that if I could have her work with me the way I wanted to, I could do alot for her. I have mad love for Janet.  She ALWAYS came to the set wanting to be as hot and nasty as ever. It was like filming a hurricane.  Her body weight was perfect, and she always came with serious sexual energy. I still consider Janet Jacme the Greatest of All Time.

And what can I say about Luscious? When I first met her she sat down and told me where she was in her life at that time. I literally took her by the hand and said

She was the first person I ever put on a DVD cover by herself which was one our best sellers ever. She has her own fan base now and they look for anything with her in it.  She is a very strong talent and she takes it very seriously. I respect her commitment to being a "porn starlet". Everyone who works with us calls her " Baby Girl" because that's what I always call her. Like Olivia is the G-Unit, Luscious is the first lady of X Level Video

Baby Khris:   Recently you sold X Level why?

Rayne Mann:  The day to day operation of running a company was overwhelming.  I wanted to focus on finding the hottest pussy and creating the nastiest scenes. I am always looking for the new hottness. Or, giving you people you seen before in a way that's never been done with them before. I still have input on the direction of the company but I didn't feel the need to own the company.

Baby Khris:   Now I know you direct for Alibi. How did that deal happen?

Rayne Mann:  When Alibi was basically doing retail in magazines I suggested to the owner that he should get into producing videos to make his company even more competitive. I told him I would direct his first feature and help him with my knowledge and my name. We did quite a bit of business before we had ever met each other. I had directed 5 features for Alibi before we had even met. Alibi is doing extremely well and they will always have my support. I got my first AVN Nomination for directing a feature for Alibi Entertainment.

Baby Khris:   Being a black in porn what is your opinion of the current state of black porn today?

Rayne Mann:  There one thing that bothers me about black porn today is the lack of creativity. I would like to do fetish features and I would like to try new things.  The other thing that bothers me is that I look at the people who review movies for AVN and they LOVE white product. And they hold Black product in such low regard.

Baby Khris:   What advice would you give to cats wanting to get into the game?

Rayne Mann:  Bring me a bad ass girl and you're in. [ LOL ]  The thing is that with guys, they figure cause they can " mack" their shorty at home in their room that they can do the same on a video set. Nothing could be further from the truth. That is why you see the same guys all the time. Those guys can get "wood" on call and they know how to position their bodies for camera angles and they can wait around when they have to. It's work. I like pussy more than anybody but I realize that I do better on this side of the camera than on that side of the camera.
